By 1967, war and poverty had become the two dominant issues for the Freedom Movement and Dr. King. On April 14, ten days after delivering his Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence speech at Riverside Church, in a speech titled "The Other America" Dr. King addressed Stanford University students — and the nation — on the issue of poverty and economic justice. (At various times in 1967 and '68 he gave versions of this speech to other audiences.)
