Forgive Them Lord, For They Know Not What They Do
I am the brother of civil rights worker James Chaney, who was murdered alnong with Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner by the Ku Klux Klan in Philadelphia, Mississippi on June 21, 1964 while conducting voter registration.
I am also the Founder and President of the James Earl Chaney Foundation.
June 21, 2004 will mark the 40th anniversary of the murders of these American heroes. We have formed the CHANEY GOODMAN SCHWERNER JUSTICE COALITION, a project of the James Earl Chaney Foundation, to embark on an ambitious campaign to organize twenty or more buses to participate in FREEDOM SUMMER 2004 - a recreation of the freedom rides from June 8 2004, to June 23rd 2004. In the past, we have organized similar events successfully in 1989, 1994, and 1999.
