I began my participation in Northern Virginia, Bethesda, Md. and continued participation as a Freedom Rider, spending 45 days in Parchment Penitentiary, in McComb Mississippi. I felt compelled to challenge the social injustices that existed at that time. Those activities laid the groundwork for continued community service, which currently propelled me to seek and become a state senator in Maryland.
