I first got involved in The Movement courtesy of William Sloan Coffin in New Haven. Eventually I landed in Louisiana at LSU and made contact with CORE's Baton Rouge office (Ronnie Moore). That led to a stint in Bogalusa (66/67) voter registration work. I also led the on-campus civil rights/Vietnam activities at LSU, under the banner of the Student Liberal Federation. And, I worked closely with Virginia Collins in New Orleans, a true (and overlooked) hero, whom I adored.
Today, I run Graham Windham in New York City, the nation's oldest, non-sectarian child welfare agency, keeping on keepin' on.
