Wouldn't Take Nothing for My Journey
Now
Killing Sisyphus
I volunteered for the Freedom Rides in July 1961. After I left Parchman Farm, I went to New Orleans and spent a month working with local groups there. I went to North Carolina in 1962 and spent three months working for civil rights there with CORE and the NAACP.
I wrote a novel, Bridge of the Single Hair, which is a fictional account of my experiences during the summer of 1961.
