Our Sixties
Letter From Mississippi, 1965

In summer 1964, I went to many Mississippi projects to show films and conduct discussions. Also taught in Blair St. freedom school in Jackson. In 1965, worked in Natchez on school integration. Co-authored book (unpublished) about Mississippi movement in 1965. Subsequently wrote a lot about movement activities. Participated in Selma-Montgomery March; got busted in Montgomery. Devoted much of my teaching career to making African-American and other minority writers more visible, especially by creating an important anthology of American Lit.
