In the summer of 1964 I was at the second orientation in Ohio and then went to Shaw in Bolivar County. I was assigned to the Shaw Freedom School. Towards the end of the summer I switched to voter registration, which I much preferred.
The following summer, 1965, I took a bus directly to Jackson, MS. I wanted to work again in Bolivar County. As I remember it, things were less organized than the previous summer and I just assigned myself to Rosedale in Bolivar County, where I worked in Shelby and the rural.
