I began in the movement as a teenager in 1963 with CORE in Chicago, IL and later worked briefly in Mississippi right after Freedom Summer. I grew up in the Civil Rights Movement. It was there that I learned to study history while creating it. What a magnificent experience.
I am now a performing artist, storyteller, percussionist, etc. I work mainly in schools, libraries and teacher conferences. My mission to teach children their history so that they can become the magnificent people they are destined to be. I also work with teacher to make the classrooms "alive", places that children want to come to every day.
